Chocolates | How to overcome life’s challenges

 Ok so you know when life challenges you? And you’re like what the hell is happening? And you just want to throw in the towel? 

Right…me too, I know that feeling all too well…

 

“Life is like a box of chocolates…” this is one of the most iconic lines on the Forrest Gump movie, one i have never fully understood. I always thought that it made no sence at all…I mean if I am buying a box of chocolates, I know exactly what i am going to get…CHOCOLATES…right?

How to overcome challenges

Wrong… I only came to understand this sentence until life hit me, full of surprises and unpredictable moments, sweet at times, sour at times, but mostly tasty. Life is indeed like a box of chocolates, when you get a box of chocolates, you never really know how the chocolates will taste like until you try each and every one of them. 

 

So how is chocolate related to life challenges?

Life will surprise us most of the times, mainly because of the challenges that come along with it. Challenges are exactly that, challenges. They push us to be a better version of ourselves on the daily, and dont get me wrong, they are not easy to go through at all. They are a freaking pain, they squeeze the most out of us, they make us cry, they hurt us, but at the end of the day they are not permanent. 

Each challenge we go through in life is a chocolate, and each chocolate will taste different and believe me every moment from the first bite to the end is worth it. You will look behind and be thankful for the life lessons each challenge will teach you. Because challenges will make you a stronger person.

 

And now you might ask.. How to overcome these challenges then..read on..

First of all, going through tough phases can take a lot of  our energy, and sometimes we wonder if we are the only ones going through such phases… No we are never the only ones, everyone goes through challenges in life, everyone has bad days.. everyone has those days when they don’t feel like getting out of bed (I had a few of those), but its  how you get through those days that matter.

 

 

  1. Take one day at a time  there is no use in worrying about tomorrow, next week or next month, your atitudes today can affect your life tomorrow, or next month or even next year. When you focus on the present you stop worrying and start thinking about how you can make your present better. Wake up, get ready, go to work, do your best, enjoy your day. And simply live, one day at a time. 
  2. Be positive, have faith can’t talk about positivity without mentioning faith. It is something so powerful to get you through the day, through the doubts, through the fear and all the crap. The power of positiveness is the power of faith. Being positive is knowing that things will be ok even at the worst moments of your life…newsflash that’s faith. Trust that God will open doors that things will get better because it is, just a phase.
  3. Be thankful yeah it’s crazy…thankful for what? For suffering? eh.. no. Think about how you woke up for one more day, think about how today you can do something different and you have that opportunity. Think about how every day is a gift. Because even when life get’s hard you have the litle things and those are what really matter. You will start appretiating life more and you will have more strength and will to fight.

 

These three tips are my go to tips today simple and basic yet effective.

Ok, it will not be all sunshine and rainbows, and positivity everyday and kumbaya or whatever…because come on let’s be realistic, it will be a process. The thing about challenges is they become harder each time, and you become stronger each time. 

“Life is like a box of chocolates…” makes so much sense to me now.
